Executive summary of summer project report
Introduction:
Nurses and nursing administration are major user of VistA EHR in the JPNATC. To in crease the adoption among nurse working in the busy emergency room and ICU was challenging task for hospital IT head.VistA EHR has CPRS template which can be customized to align actual nursing work flow in the hospital. Project was to asses the gap and need analysis of nursing function and nursing paper documents and convert the paper documents in the CPRS templates.
Objectives:
To perform gap and needs analysis of nursing workflow in the emergency room and ICU at the JPNATC.
To collect the paper documents being used by nurses, convert them to customized CPRS electronic templates in VistA EHR.
Prepare report for nursing administration menus available in VistA , and how to customize it for JPNATC nursing administration department.
Methodology:
Personal one to one interview with nurses, assistant nursing superintendent, discuss the each field in the documentation in ED and ICU.
Create the CPRS template with help of IT team and nurse informatics team members at JPNATC.
Nursing administration menu access from GTM server through PuttY software.
Conclusion:
Total 17 nursing documents assessed and combine some of them into 9 CPRS templates, test it with end users. Nursing administration menu in the GTM database has several filed to be populated and customize it for use in JPNATC.
